ditto.

I just cleared out a clearance endcap at target of toothpaste the other day. Also the honey bunches of oats chocolate clusters at Walmart. The food pantry did raise an eyebrow at the odd combination, but they got 50+ tubes of toothpaste and a couple dozen boxes of cereal all new and not close to expiration. While i didn't get to clear out walgreens (someone else beat me to it-sigh) I did get one round for my parents and one for my sister-in-law.

and we use reusable shopping bags everywhere. I have gotten at least 8 free, and bought about 4 more. Even when I am stockpiling we put it in the bags not plastic.

That is a great idea. I have heard of other people playing the free game using coupons & rebates at Walgreens and then donating the items to a food pantry or other group that distributes the items to people in need. Buying up a bunch of stuff dirt cheap and redistributing it is leveraging less money to benefit more people. It is sort of guerilla shopping/redistribution.

I don't go out of my way to do it, but if I have the coupons but not the need the food pantry does. Every year they are closer and closer to turning people away and With only two of us the dozen tubes of toothpaste are already enough for a couple years most likely. I also had a chat about what they need most for hba/toiletries so I know what to look out for later on. I don't normally get so many at once but Target seemed to have got rid of half their toothpaste, including the bonus boxes.
