i gave up all cable channels over 100, so my bill is lower and i don't need to be glued to the tube. got regualr phone service, i don't need call waiting, 3-way calling, etc on my house phone. i screen thru the machine. i cancled mag subscriptions and netflix and use the library. much smarter all the way around!

bottled water, soda (we make lots of iced tea now), paper products (i will still stock up on TP when it is free w/ coupons and sales...we use cloth baby wipes when out, which is no big deal, really), disposable diapers for the baby, haircuts for dh (i do them now), cable TV, hmm...seems like there is more.

ah....my department store make up and facial products...i really thought i would miss those but i havn't. i have found very acceptable substitutes at walgreens and hit good sales so they were practically free.

breadfast cereal (we eat toast and oatmeal now), most prepackaged foods (like rice mixes, baked goods, snacks...i make all our rice and cakes and we eat mostly fruits and veggies for snacks...air popcorn too!)

fun thread! its kinda amazing what you DONT" miss, istn it.

I sort of gave up the internet. I mean, I still get access, but it's free on school computers. I don't get it directly to my room though.

I also gave up bottled water. I splurged and bought a pretty SIGG bottle to drink water from, figuring that it cost less than what I spent in 3 weeks on bottled water. In a way, having the pretty bottle on my desk reminds me to drink more water, and it's been a great way to encourage others to ditch the bottled water habit as well.

I gave up cable. Since the strike, I started reading again and enjoying it. My local library has somewhat of a good collection of movies to rent.

I did the same thing, I got a pretty pink MiGo water bottle that I take to work every day! It makes drinking water seem more fun and eliminates the need for all those plastic bottles. I refill mine at the water cooler.
