I had a Dodge Dakota once. I thought it was a good deal (cheap on gas, just to get back and forth to work). Paid $600 bucks for it.

A month later, I sold it for $145. Broken down three times (once on the day I bought it). Done. Good riddance.

i just gave up the extra channels from cable company. so, right now, i have basic. i would miss my sports channels if i cannot get it from local channels and free from the internet. so, i am watching tennis free on-line right now. i just love free. this costs me $25 less in cable bill.

I am really surprised at the amount of posters who say they gave up sodas! That was my choice as well. Did you know that if you lay out ten teaspoons of sugar on your kitchen counter, that is the amount that is in one can of soda!! I used two drink two a day and it was really hard at first to abstain because I am a soda junkie. It is by far the worst habit(aside from smoking)and I am on my road to recovery. Potato chips are next!

Thumbs up Frugal is FUN!

I reduced my family's minutes on our cell phones. Well my husband did (I had to hand the phone over to him) he had to go up the food chain at AT&T to do it. These customer service people are trained not to help.

Droppped a lot of channels on cable.

Haven't been to a Starbucks in WEEKS! We have a toddy coffee maker. It makes a 1/2 gallon of concentrate from 1 lb of coffee which we double with water and add 2 T of vannilla. Pour a few shots over ice and a shot of whole milk. This is the best way to make coffee!

Instead of chix breast, today i bought 8 chicken drumsticks for $4.00. I am marinating them and will cook them on the grill.

Frugal is FUN!

I've given up Starbucks and I don't miss it! I too started to make my own coffee at home and it tastes even better than my $4 Starbucks coffee.

I've given up most of our movie channels. We kept one because we don't subscribe to Netflix anymore. I've given up my bi-weekly pilgrimage () to Target. I don't need any of that stuff. We have plenty of stuff here already!

We've given up watering the lawn daily--we do it every other day if it doesn't rain, for 15 minutes in the evening. The grass isn't magnificient anymore, but it's not an eyesore either. We pray for rain. LOL!

We've given up going out to eat every week. Our family of four was costing us $50-60 bucks every time we went out to eat. Yikes!

I don't miss those things. I thought I would, but I don't.

I've given up buying magazines and books- I've not bought any since last Christmas. It's great- magazine clutter always got to me. I've borrowed over 70 books from the library in that time- I wouldn't have bought them all, obviously, but I still must have saved quite a bit.

I've given up eating out if I'm not with others. Meaning no more going out to grab lunch during the day at work unless it's going to be a sit-down meal with a friend. No picking up carry out on the weekends. It really doesn't feel like a huge change at all, but I'm amazed at how much money I'm saving. $10 here and there, even if it is just once a week, really adds up! And it makes the meals I share with friends seem even more special.

tv - still watch it with others, but don't miss it (i don't own one)
magazines - used to be hooked, now i rarely buy them
coffee - used to be hooked, now i can't drink it
alcohol - still like it, but don't drink it
overworking - it's not as enjoyable as it once was

i still miss meat, and occasionally eat it.
i still consume gossip.
i still indulge in anger.
i drink lots of soda.

There was an old song by Husker Du called Too Much Spice:

You never used to care for fancy new obsessions
You never used to have a reason to be bored
Now you indulge yourself with new ways of possession
Now you indulge yourself and your feelings are ignored
And you're coloring your life with too much spice

There was a time, there was a place, there was a reason
There was a situation comfortable for you
You've tasted everything in this here bag of season
But now you're bored and you've run out of things to do
And you're coloring your life with too much spice

You don't see anything your eyes are so revealing
They're sharply focused on looking for a thrill
You've turned so numb you never notice any feeling
Your thoughts are dead and you've still got some time to kill
And you're coloring your life with too much spice

Default Given up TV

I decided to not hook up cable or rabbitears when i moved into my place 4 years ago. Initially it was for a trial period, but i found that i became very sensitive to how much garbage was on the air waves when i would see TV while visiting a friend or on the hotel tv when traveling. So i do not miss it and doubt i will ever hook it up again.
