What's a little toilet talk among friends.

I think the "gross out" factor depends a bit on, well how do I put this delicately.... how solid your waste is. If you get lots of fiber and your bowel movements are regular, I think you can get away with the towel idea.

Now there's someone who's thought this through. Agreed. LOL!

I find the generic Costco brand (Kirkland) is fine. It's not lux but it doesn't require a whole roll per sitting either.

I'm not even going to touch the other steaming discussion. *shivers*

My preferred brand is single-ply 1000-sheet rolls (Scott or equivalent). Anything else just gets used up too fast. I think it almost always winds up being a better value compared to cheaper double-ply, and you don't have to buy or change rolls as often.

I like the Angel Soft double rolls. Really soft, not too expensive.

The DIY stuff didn't gross me out, ftr.

We won't use anything except Scott. It costs a tad more, but will last us a very long time. We can go through 3 rolls of regular paper to our one roll of Scott. It's well worth the difference.

Unless you have hemorrhoids or such, the tech specs (cotton blend, extra soft, 4 ply, aloe vera-ed, unfragranced, etc) of loo paper isn't so crucial, IMHO. I used to live with someone who was incredibly finicky about this : ). I generally purchase the cheaper, 2 ply, recycled, unbleached stuff, which is identical is quality to the regular stuff, as far as I can tell, though some may disagree.
