I gave up cigarettes, which saves me thousands. Part frugal, part health.

We gave up a second car. The insurance was sky high, and the cost of gas and upkeep was also eating a hole in our budget. Its been a year, and we hardly notice it anymore since we've learned to work around it.

I totally agree with the toilet paper thing. The cheap stuff does not cut it.

I gave up expensive wine. My husband and I used to collect and we no longer do and have been drinking what's in our cellar. Also gave up the wine cellar we rented. Probably have saved tons of money this way. Haven't given up wine though

I gave up my car.

When I sat down and worked out how much it cost me against how much I actually used it, it simply didn't make sense to keep it. So we part exchanged my car for a Ute (utility vehicle for those not in Australia ) so that my husband could expand his gardening business without having to go into debt for it. He's now fully booked and loving it.

I've always been pretty frugal.

I guess I've given up buying books (or at least reduced the ones I buy to only the absolute best like tightwade gazzette (sp?_)). 6 or 7 years ago I'd spend 60+ bucks a month on books.

I've also cut my video rental spending a lot. 3 years ago I'd spend 20 bucks or so renting movies.

1 year ago I stopped buying my cafe mocha every time I went to the grocery store/malls.

Maybe tweaked my eating out a bit. But still not that drastic a change. 4 years ago there was a great sushi place that delivered. I've moved since, and no good sushi places nearby that make deliveries, so trimmed my sushi spending considerably... Mmmmmm sushi.
