Reputation: | There should've been option "very rarely". I'm super picky and hate clutter so I can never find anything at thrift stores. I like the idea though. |

Reputation: | I do! And don't forget that people who volunteer at thrift stores often get the best picks of the litter. So if you're complaining about never finding anything good you might try volunteering once in a while. |

Reputation: | I like the idea of thrift stores (and I donate old clothes to Goodwill), but they just don't work for me. I'm oddly proportioned and I have a hard time finding clothes that fit well even in a retail store, where I can ask questions like "Are any of your pants available in Tall?" Every few years, I'll try thrift stores again, but I've never found any clothing I could use. |

Reputation: | I do but usually for books and toys, not clothing. The only time I bought a clothing item from a thrift store was when I found a large vest that I could use as a costume accessory. |

Reputation: | I do. Not for my mainstream buying but just for fun. We have at least 5 within 8 miles of my house (2 goodwill, salvation army, a church resale shop and one that is a thrift store to raise $ for the humane society). Some rainy days we just take the thrift store cruise and look for books, movies, toys, kitchen do-dads. Its all within our "simplifying" rules though. So anything coming in generally means another thing going out of the house. The one about 100 yards from my house is where we got our bikes for the bike trail. Nothing will beat those deals. DS's bike for $10. My mountain bike for $10. The helmets cost more than the bikes! And they only need a brake here, air in this tire, little kind of things. I generally try and go on the discount days they have once a week or once a month. Even though kids vhs tapes are only a $1, $0.90 is better. And we really get our money out of things like that as ds loves them much then they go through my niece and nephew as well. I'd probably buy clothes there but ds generally gets a lot as gifts from family and I have had the same clothes forever and don't foresee a need for new ones. Just a tip - if you have little ones playing group sports, check the thrift stores before going out to buy gear. We'd either have to travel and pay Dick's prices or travel and pay WalMart prices for gear ds would use for maybe a season at the rate he grows. We usually find his soccer shin guards and such things at the thrift stores. If we see many pairs or items we'll buy them all and just give them away at the first practice/game to whoever needs them. If no one does they can always get donated back. |

Reputation: | I will spend a lot of my free time perusing them. You can find some beautiful deals and get some unique pieces, but I'm pretty picky & specific so only buy something maybe 1 out of 4-5 trips, if even that. |

Reputation: | The only time I really go to thrift stores is to donate my clothes. I really hate having to search through piles of stuff to look for what I need, I tend to avoid major sales in stores for the same reason. I'm also trying to reduce the amount of "stuff" coming into my house. |
