Default Wholesale/Bulk Food

Anyone know of a good place to get Wholesale/Bulk food on the internet?

Amazon has a lot of "family packs" and such, not bulk, bulk; but bigger then most stores and a fairly good discount (also get a 3% discount since I have a CC with them).

What other places are good? I heard Costco was a good place to shop?

I have about $500 and want to 'stock up' on staple foods to save money and in case of an emergency (also save gas by not having to run to the dam store every few days!)

The LDS (Mormons) have a new website at http://www.providentliving.org/ dealing with that subject, including a food storage calculator, but I think ordering their supplies requires a church member. I don't know. Good information though.

They talk of food storage for a year. Perhaps they know something....??

It really depends on what your looking for. We buy some things in large packs or cases from Amazon. Things like cocoa powder, rice pasta, vitamins.

Things like flour in big bags we get at Sam's or the local Coop.

We find certain things in bulk at the regular grocery. Extra large bags of rice or beans, 25# bags of flour. I started buying those huge industrial cans of veggies. They are cheaper per oz than regular cans and we go through about 3 cans of the regular store size at a meal anyway. We put the rest in a fridge container for later in the week.

Sam's Club and Costco are pretty cool places. I love the free samples, and buying in bulk is great for saving money.
