Default Wise Bread group write: The BEST local places to eat

Open Call for the Best Cheap Eats Around the World

This is the second in our new series of open group writes. It's a chance to showcase great bloggers in the Wise Bread community and provide valuable resources for our readers.
The group write is simple: You write a helpful blog post about the best cheap eats in your city. Wise Bread will link to all your blog posts, and together we'll create the best list (and map!) of good cheap restaurants around the world.

To participate, it's an easy 1-2-3 process....

1. Blog about the best cheap eats in your city
Write a post on your blog on the good cheap restaurants in your city. (No blog? Post your tips in this forum thread, and we'll link to your forum post.)
No chain restaurants. We don't want to hear about the closest Cheesecake Factory!
Tell us about the places that can't be found ANYWHERE else!
Include price ranges, your favorite dishes, special "secret" menus, and any other insider tips.

2. Update the Best Cheap Eats Map

Add your restaurant recommendations to the Best Cheap Eats Map. Here are instructions with screenshots on how to edit a Google map.
Please make sure to include the following in the location bubbles:
  • Name of restaurant
  • Address/phone number/website
  • Include a link to your post (label it "Reviewed by your site name")
Anyone can make changes to the map
That means we're counting on everyone to contribute valuable info, and help police spam and junk.
To ensure that this map is as useful as possible, please follow these guidelines:
  • Don't change the name or description of the map. That'll confuse people.
  • Don't spam, add junk listings, or otherwise make the map less useful.
  • Do keep the info bubbles as neat and useful as possible. Parking tips are good.
  • Do link to your review of the restaurant on your blog. If a listing already exists, add your link to it.
  • Do fix mistakes or vandalism/spam. Help make the map more useful!

3. Tell us about your post

The rules
  • We accept articles written in the past, as long as it's still relevant.
  • If you have multiple posts, please write one post that lists them instead of sending us ten different links to separate reviews.
  • The article must be region specific. An article on "The top 10 restaurants in the US" will not be included.
  • Submitting your link does not guarantee its inclusion on the final post. We will only include relevant and useful articles.
  • Links need to be submitted by November 30 to be included in the first round.
Put this in your email
  • City / state (or country) the article pertains to.
  • Permalink to your article.
  • "Group Write: Local Eats" as the subject of the email.
Email your link to editor@wisebread.com.

Other Group Writes

Free or cheap things to do in your city - We're still accepting submissions. There are missing cities on the map!

Check the post for more details.

I think this is what I am supposed to do, I can't figure out how to add my places to the map:

Minneapolis, MN:
1. Matts Bar www.mattsbar.com
Matt's Bar is known for their AWESOME jucy lucy's. Although they do sell beer, it is more of a family restaurant than a bar. If you go, go early on the weekend (there aren't enough seats so you will have to stand and wait) and PLEASE don't chow down as soon as you get your burger--although it is a source of laughter for my husband and I, the molten cheese inside the burger will burn you!
3500 Cedar Ave. S.
Minneapolis, MN 55407
612-722-7072

2. Cap's Grille http://capsgrille.com
Best breakfast ever. Also known for their porkchops. You should arrive early for the dinner rush, or you will need to stand and wait for a seat.
5000 Hiawatha Ave.
Minneapolis, MN 55417
612-722-2277

3. Dominguez Restaurant http://www.nokomiseast.org/hood-main.html#dominguez
Little Mexican restaurant that is ethnic enough for traditionalists, and Americanized enough for those afraid to step outside of their boundaries. Family owned, they do serve beer and alcohol and do beat the rush or you will stand and wait for a seat.
3313 E 50th St.
Minneapolis, MN 55417
612-729-2353

Lewisburg, TN
1. Lawler's Bar-B-Que http://www.lawlersbarbecue.com/main.html
A little family owned restaurant that has gained in popularity as the years have gone by. Known for their vinegar-based bbq sauce, the location in Lewisburg is drive-thru only. I believe some of the other locations have sit down restaurants, though. They also do mail order....believe me, it is worth it!!!
1301 N. Ellington Pkwy.
Lewisburg, TN 37091
931-359-5990

2. Jimmy's Deli
Best little sandwich shop ever!!! They steam the sandwich so the cheese and meat are all warm and gooey and the bread is hot, but still soft. Can't say enough about them!
1153 Nashville Hwy
Lewisburg, TN 37091
(931) 359-3910

Default NYC restaurants

Lynn,

Perhaps I'm just tired, but the instructions got me a bit confused.
I've got a post here with a couple of restaurants. We need to do all the steps listed with email, map etc? right?

Thanks. Really enjoyed the last group write.

I am trying to figure this out also. I can update the map but when I go back in and check for my listing, it has disappeared. I don't know if having a google account myself is part of the problem b/c I have signed in and then sign out of my account to update the map.

Oh, what price is everyone considering "cheap"? Less than $5 per meal?

Sorry for those of you having problems with the map. Did you hit the "save" button after entering the information?

Here are some more detailed instructions.
