Reputation: | You can actually buy nice laptops for $600 at Best Buy, etc. during sales. I say it's better off just paying a few bucks more for one of these. Still cheap, but good performance at the same time. I got a nice Toshiba laptop with a 17" monitor for $699 last month at Best Buy. |

Reputation: | I think a laptop is such an important tool in one's life that it would be worth it to throw down about $300 more for something of high quality. That is, unless you're certain you're not going to do much with it. |

Reputation: | The performance factor pales in comparison to the form factor. I think the vast majority of people would find that a netbook screen and keyboard are too small to use as their primary computer, unless their primary computer usage consisted of 20 minutes of web surfing and e-mailing a day--which is barely even "hobby computing," if you ask me! |

Reputation: | As an owner of a netbook, I can safely say that its an awesome device for personal use, by which I mean web browsing, music, movies and basic word and spreadsheet processing. Its very portable, and can be carried in small bag without having the shoulders suffer. However, there are a few limitations. The small keyboard makes it really difficult to type. So blogging would not be most comfortable thing to do on the netbooks. Also, a few of my friends had difficulty running MSOffice-07 on Vista, Its not ideal for heavy computing work. |

Reputation: | I've been looking at getting one of these for my wife, since all she does is surf the internet anyways. Very neat machines all in all. |
