Default After tonight I am unimportant again!

As I citizen of Iowa who has been getting called 3-4 times a night for the last few months I am over joyed that tonight will end our time in the spotlight. This has been a much worse election year than most in terms of calls and mailings. Every day 3-4 mailers, every night calls, all the news, etc. I will not miss it one bit.

I'm envious of you guys in a way.
You get to see and ask questions of all the candidates face to face before they've been winnowed down to a few front-runners. You have a supreme chance to make a difference in the race. People are asking for your opinions, people want your support. That is a unique thing in politics; personally I have never ever been asked by pollsters on the phone about my choices or what I think about the issues. But I can understand how it can become tiresome, especially if you don't really get into politics all that much.

I don't know. No matter how much I love Dennis Kusinich, or Ron Paul they are not contenders. For Dems the choices I have (realistically) are the same as yours will be - Hilary, Obama, John. For Reps it is the same deal.

Really since it is such a money system the possible choices is cut down even before the start.

That is such a sad statement.

That's right folks, if we get a bad president, you know who to blame.

I agree with frozemud. I think it is really neat that you have the opportunity to meet the candidates in your local diners, look them in the eye and feel the grip of their handshakes.

They would make a real interesting third party ticket, though.

Or you could just vote on the issues. The entrance polls are up. It looks like no surprises so far. Clinton and Obama leading the Democrats. Huckabee and Romney for the GOP.

We better change that from "no surprises" to OMFG.

A pretty big upset for Edwards to take out Clinton and for Huckabe to beat Romeny by a mile.

Interesting night. Now we see if that excitement which Obama generated carries him. For Huckabee it seems to be if evangelicals are as numerous in other states.

Regardless of who you support in the elections, isn't it really neat that Obama won Iowa? The idea that an African American can do so well in a state that is mostly white makes is a great historical moment.

Someday our kids will probably be studying this in their history books (or history holos, whatever they have by that time).
