Reputation: | that's too bad. I really like him, and regardless of his so called bad attitude, I don't think that he gets the respect he deserves. And for the talking heads out there that are saying he is further disgracing himself by quitting on TT, I say, "you have no idea the reasons why he is quitting." He is a great coach, he did great things for the sport (calling for the revoke of certain programs' scholarships, etc) and I could care less if he threw a chair, or "choked" a snotty kid (the whole story behind this was very interesting). The media made him into a monster. This is a great loss for NCAA basketball. |

Reputation: | It's a sad day for college basketball. I never had any bad feelings to coach Knight. I always felt that the young men who he "choked" had it coming to them. One thing that ESPN pointed out was how he never had one recruiting scandal in his coaching career. It just goes to show that Bobby handle his players the best way he could.

Reputation: | Other than his infamous comments regarding rape, nothing really bothered me too much about the man. It seems like he learned a lot by the reaction to those comments as well, and I can appreciate someone who can change. That aside, he was a giant in the game, and it is strange not having him there any more. |

Reputation: | I guess I'm slow on keeping up with the sporting world news. It is an end of an era to see Bob Knight retire. His temper does tarnish his legacy somewhat, but hopefully it won't ultimately define how he's remembered. He did so much good, but the focus often seems to fall on his misdeeds. I found these two write-ups which I found to be good reads. http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/articles/?p=24318 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...0501825_2.html |

Reputation: | It will be interesting to see how his son takes over the reins at Texas Tech. Apparently, he didn't want Bob to retire until the end of the year.
