best friend - he/she is supposed to be on your side, so it would be a huge betrayal and you lose both people

dumped for the enemy? Well, sure I wouldn't be thrilled, but then you and your best friend can laugh at them and/or plot against them

Probably best friend because after wards you lost your mate and your best friend. If it was your worst enemy it will just add fuel to an existing fire.

I would say best enemy. A real "best friend" would never let that happen in the first place. Getting dumped for your worst enemy would be a huge hit to one's pride.

Best Friend, for sure! That would be the W-O-R-S-T best friend ever if that were to happen. BF's are supposed to know better than that and stick by your side through thick & thin.
