Reputation:  (10) |  Extra source of income Hello Everyone! Is anybody else having a hard time landing a second job in this recession period? I have gone to several temp. agencies and have placed my resume at monster.com and sdjobing.com and can't seem to find another source of income. Does anybody have any good suggestion on how to make extra money without resorting to working a 9-5 grind? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Why wait for someone to give you a job? Why work for someone else? If you have a special skill set or knowledge base, why not start a part-time consultancy. Print up some business cards and do some networking and you might land some short time gigs with people or companies that don't want to hire a "real temp" from an agency or take a chance on some liar they find on a Job website. Got a hobby? Do you make some unique craft like Knitted Toilet Roll Holders? IF so, make some and try to sell them at a local flea market. Play a musical instrument well enough? Maybe you could give cheap lessons in your house or at a local community center to Kids who want to learn to play the Fluglehorn. Think outside of the employment box....become a freelance dog-walker or freelance hairdresser, or freelance computer programmer, or freelance home-care attendant or freelance handyman, or freelance resume-writer, or freelance signmaker. Use whatever skill you have. If its a job with benefits you're after, you may just have to take a soul-destroying 9 to 5 job. | |

Reputation: (10) | I work F/T in the social work field, but see 3 clients through another agency that I get paid a monthly sum for. It's not a huge amount but I can put it towards my hefty student loan!
