Close Encounters of the Third Kind has a special place in my heart because the final scenes were filmed in an airplane hangar very near where I grew up.
As in, we walked down to the airfield and watched through the chainlink fence as they unloaded huge truckloads of stuff into the hangar to set up the scenes.
At the time, we didn't know what movie it was going to be; we just knew it was pretty cool.

Also my favorites:
Local Hero
Spinal Tap
Pulp Fiction
The Usual Suspects
Silence of the Lambs
Trainspotting
Jacob's Ladder
Alien
and everything the Coen Brothers ever made

If loving Rachel McAdams is wrong then I don't want to be right. Count me in as another guy who loved The Notebook.

When SNL gave the movie a shoutout I almost freaked out.

The Notebook was a good movie.

I like the X-Men series. Basically I like everything related to Xmen. (Comics and all.)

You Got Mail.
The Terminal.
Eurotrip.
Scary Movie.

Hey! Local Hero! wonderful soundtrack. However, the film is nice but not excellent. I watched it a few months ago and have to say my memories were better than the movie. Same happens often with cartoons :-)

It's curious that most of the films mentioned on this thread are form the last 10 years or so. Are you all so young? I have to say that most of the movies nowadays lack of a good story and just rely on marketing to make people go to the cinema. a famous name, lots of ads, sometimes stunning SFx's and that's all.

My favorites are The man who would be king, Sleuth and One, two, three (from the great Billy Wilder, no splash!!!)

Yes, not an excellent movie, but one that has stayed with me since I first saw it in the eighties. Last weekend I watched it again; it still has understated charm and makes me laugh though the special effects are somewhat dated.

It made a big impact on me in more ways than one. Lovely movie.

The professional
Pulp Fiction
Shawshank Redemption
Die Hard
Zatoichi(the 'new' one)
Bladerunner
...

Are all movies I could watch over and over again. And I could easily add lots more hehe.

Coen Bro's are awesome, but not quite tops... although I watch blood simple a lot. Tonight I'm going to see No Country for Old Men ... Assuming my friends don't bail on me like they did over the weekend and force me to do something else.
