Reputation: | How to fight a traffic court You should fight your ticket because you can. Many people think, “I was given a ticket. There is nothing I can do.” Most people do not fight their ticket and as a result police officers can continue to give tickets that may in some cases be unwarranted. Simply paying the ticket is an admission of guilt and results in the highest fine as well as a stain on your driving record. A mark on your driving record has several implications depending upon your driving history. ___________________________________________ Traffic Ticket |

Reputation: | I just got my second speeding ticket (for speeding). The second ticket I have gotten in 30 years of driving. The fine was $88, which I could mail in with a "guilty plea". I would also have placed 4 points on my driving record. About 4 days passed, and I received a letter from the Court that made me an offer. My speeding ticket wuld be changed to "obstructed view" if I was willing to pay $103.OO. This would also mean that no points would be assessed. I mailed the $103 to the court. That was the end of it. Here is my question...is law enforcement in it for "the money"? Please give you answer by choosing one of the following options YES or YES Yes, I agree. Everyone should excert there rights to challenge the ticket. Look at it this way...showing up for the court appearance is an option we should always pursue. There is always the possibility that the officer will not show up. At a minimum, it demonstrates to law enforcement that we are paying attention and monitoring their behavior. If we all just mail in a fine and do not challenge the system and protect our rights, we may end up with a Big Brother society. Before you know it, law enforcement would be out there mounting cameras on lightpoles, installing red-light cameras falsly adjusted to enable more violations and fines to help their budget. Or, they could end up monitoring our cell conversations, e-mails, install GPS chips in cell phones to track us, hide RFID antennaes inside packaging to follow us, monitor our deposits/withdrawals at banks, install bio-metric eye scanners to check our profiles against suspect lists, start warrantless searches of our homes, change the entire television broadcasting system into one that can account for every person and their interests, take our DNA to build a massive monitoring data base, hide surveillance cameras in public areas to monitor activity, record our license plates to monitor our routines via camera link, have utility personel submit observation reports on customers, scan our computers with hidden programs installed by manufacturers, and all kinds of scary stuff. We wouldn't want them doing that, now would we? lol Thank you. lol
