I only own one, but I want another one. I currently have a Nano 2nd gen which is great to run with. I can't decide if I want a Touch or a Clasic next for video though.

I had an old mini iPod, but the 6GB ended up not being enough to hold my collection. Then I got an 80GB video iPod, which I quickly realized was way too big for my collection. I think a 60GB would have been enough.

My parents use my mini now, which is fine because they only have, like, five artists that they listen to on a regular basis.

Default My $15 iPod

Last year I bought two 'broken' iPods off eBay. They were different generations and had different problems.

The first was one of the 60 gig iPods that had a color screen but no video capability. The screen and buttons were broken but the battery and hard drive were good.

The second one was one of the 20 or 30 gig ones with the black and white (greenish really) screen, but with the same button wheel thing as the newer ones. It was advertised as working but with battery and hard drive problems.

Anyway, I took a gamble on these things and got them both for about $20 all said and done, shipping and everything. I took them apart with a butter knife and eyeglasses screwdriver. Then I combined the functioning bits to create my 'Frankenpod'. The broken bits I actually sold on eBay for $5, even though I advertised it as "broken pieces of old iPods."

As I am sure you can tell from my descriptions, I had no idea what I was doing. Moreover, I'm not particularly technically inclined. It was kind of just a weekend project that I really wanted to work out. I can't recommend it as a viable solution for anyone, but that is how I got an iPod for $15.

I have a 80 GB video Ipod.
I love it.
I also use it to backup important data from my computer.

I dont see the need for having more than 1 ipod.
If you buy a new one, you can sell your old one or give the old one to someone else.

I have a video ipod purchased 2 years ago and I have no regrets buying it. Listening to the music keeps me sane at the office and on long flights.

I also have an ipod shuffle, which I use at the gym.

An ideal ipod product for me would be an MP3 player + a good camera + internet with wifi + pda. Essentially an Ipod Touch but with a camera and an iPhone without the phone/AT&T ball-and-chain attached to it. Plus an easy to replace battery.

Default trade old cds and dvds for an ipod

I've got 1 Ipod - a 30gb Ipod Video. I wasn't going to get an Ipod until i found a website where you can trade in your old CDs and DVDs to get an Ipod in exchange. I was skeptical - but tried it out and after sending in about 120 CDs/DVDs - i got my brand spanking new Ipod a couple of weeks later.

I have a post on my blog detailing how it worked in case anyone else is interested in giving it a shot:

Get a "free" ipod

From one tinkerer to another, I say good job! I thought I was being clever by installing an open source firmware on my mp3 player. I never contemplated fixing something to make a hackenpod.

I have two, but would love to get the Ipod touch. I have the 80GB video one right now and an old first generation 10GB. Would be nice if they had a 80GB Ipod touch available, I would snatch one up immediately!

If you have a spare iPod, you can experiment with putting Linux on it. I did it to an old Nano of mine for fun.
