How to Research Check Card Purchases

I just got a wierd charge for $15.99 to my checking account, and I'm not sure where it came from.

CHKCARDWELLSFARGO ITP TEMPE AZUS

I googled it and all I got was a company called ITP in Tempe, AZ. But I never purchased anything from them. Who can I call to clarify?

Have you called your bank? Yeah, that may be a very dumb question, but a lot of the time people ask others online before going straight to the people who can help. Call the number on the back of your check card. I hope your account wasn't compromised, but if it was, it's better to find out now than later. Good luck!

The company may very well be just a processor for another company. Call your bank, they can get the information for you quickly and dispute the charge if need be.

When people see weird charges my first thought is always any "trial offers" that required a card number to process. Followed by other online purchases before I think credit card fraud. But your bank can help you.

Some more information eventually showed up on my bank statement which gave me a phone number. Calling the phone number allowed me to cancel the service, which turned out to be one of those Trilegant (sp?) scam type deals. I got the money back, and everything went back to normal.

ITP is identity theft protection. i have the same charge. i got my credit report through wells fargo. hope that helps you...
