How to start your own line of designer shoes

While checking up on Angela's “If The Shoe Fits…” article at the Carnival of Shoes and Bags, I came across this article about a woman starting her own line of designer shoes.

"He said, 'You can probably do this on your own,' " Favela George said.

That was all the incentive she needed. She went to an industry trade show in Las Vegas to make contacts. Then she headed for Italy, and toured factories that could make the heels, the soles, the lasts that would give her shoes their shape. She knew she was on the right track when she learned her manufacturers were also doing business with big-name labels such as Manolo Blahnik and Yves Saint Laurent.

There were trials. She doesn't speak Italian, and the manufactures spoke little English. She had to perform what she called the "begging two-step" for friends and family in order to raise the $150,000 she needed to start the business.

Hey, I'm only reading a Daily Dose of Queer because they are hosting one of our articles, not because I check it daily or anything.

Let's not be judging people based on the carnivals we visit. Its not like having your soup recipe appearing at Right Wing Nation somehow makes you a Republican.

In all seriousness I hope you didn't mind that carnival submission on your behalf. Although that website is mostly about politics, I believe the Carnival of Recipes is neutral territory (like Switzerland of blogging).
