congratulations! I was 19 when I married and we are still very happy together almost 30 years later, so it's not too young if you are committed to your partner and you stick together when the tough times hit, which they will eventually!

my husband always says the secret of a good marriage is one word; compromise!
I think it's about not sweating the small stuff, overlooking a lot of annoying things but really talking through the important things and more than anything not trying to change each other, we marry people, not projects.

financially I think the most important thing is to really be honest and keep talking to each other, always have good insurance in case one of you loses your job ( this nearly ruined us!) and save 10% of your income.

communication is so important. It's better to be upfront about issues, especially when it comes to money than letting them fester.

Congrats! In all the pre-marital counseling and men's events I've done, I always tell the guys two words, "Don't Quit!".

Here's another suggestion, Just Show Up!

I'm 31 and I've been with my wife since I was 19, married for most of that.

Don't lie. The easiest way to keep your stories straight is to always use the real one. Any problem can get worked out, but only if you both know about it. Be honest and open with each other.

Both of you should always expect to give 60% of yourselves and do 60% of the work. If you both plan on getting 40%, while the other is giving 60%, you'll both be happy. The key is that you both have to be on board with the 60% plan.

Do not listen what other people say you to do, always have the head on your shoulders and make the decision together with your wife and only!

Wow, I'm surprised this is still on the first page after over a year. I guess it probably got necrobumped along the way, huh? Good news, I'm still happily married and still saving and investing money for retirement. Unfortunately I'm deployed to Afghanistan right now and I missed my first anniversary . I'm pretty excited to get back though, so I can finally live with my wife.
