Reputation: | I used to have one of those "learn a word a day" desk calendars and I loved it. I still love learning new words so maybe we can do it in a thread. Junta - a small group ruling a country, esp. immediately after a coup d'état and before a legally constituted government has been instituted. How I found this word - I read on the news that Burmese junta seized aid at airport. I figured it meant some kind of governmental authority, but wasn't quite sure what it meant. |
