Reputation: | I use a cell phone and that's really all. I got into the White Rabit program for Ooma so I got it free, but in order to use it I need to have a landline. I learned that I can upgrade it for a significant discount to full use though so I might be cell phone and VOIP line soon. |

Reputation: | I live by my cell phone. The charges for calls and messages are very less. And there's added services like voice mail, call divert, caller tune, gprs... GPRS is my favorite, it allows me to access internet on the move, anywhere and applications like Opera Mini make it a lot easier. I'm a student, so I dont have a landline. But there's no need for one as my cell phone does the job well.

I use Opera Mini too on my Motorola Razr V3m. It's a lot better than the built-in web browser. However, I haven't been able to use the mobile version of Gmail in Opera Mini lately because of XML parsing errors. For that, I still have to switch over to the standalone Gmail mobile app. | |

Reputation: | I have both. It's an extra $6 a month to my cable company for the landline, and it's worth it to not burn up my cell phone minutes. I have unlimited local and long distance (US and Canada) on my landline, which is great since I have family all over the country. While trying to use my cell phone, I just burned up minutes and ended up having to have a more expensive plan.

| Senior Member | We have a landline (in our landlord's name) and two cell phones. We are actually looking at bundling the landline with our Comcast service bu need to check into portability. We use the cell phones for long distance (living on the edge of two states sucks for long distance calling, everything is always in the wrong state) and my husband's is also his work number instead of having a pager and a cell phone. He gets a 15% discount on his line through work as well which is nice.

Reputation: | Cell phone only. We decided it cost too much to have both so we choose. Neither of us ever really talk on the phone so we have the very basic package and have never came close to using our time each month. Plus it allows us to keep in contact without having to be tied to the house. |

| Member | we use a landline and a cell phone. I wanted to get rid of the home phone, but my wife likes having it, probably because she always forgets to recharge her phone. for cell service i use a pre-paid phone from virgin mobile ( i hardly ever use it) and i end up only paying a few dollars every month. |

Reputation: | We have 2 cell phones on a T-Mobile family plan. We hardly ever use them too; only a few business related calls and occasional family call, because we use email for almost everything. We gave up the landline in Dec 2005 when we moved into our house and switched to cable internet because the phone rates were so high and no one ever called us on our home phone anyway except for telemarketers (despite being on the Do Not Call registry).

| Member | I have a cell phone and a landline. I use a VOIP for my landline and the service is not too bad. It costs me around $16 per month. I personally find it hard to part from my cell phone, as it is a means to communicate to my children and my wife.
