Reputation: | Thanks to another WB poster, I'm working on a post about the Secret About Money. Of course, the secret is that there is no secret. However, I'm working in some famous money quotes and thought that y'all probably knew some that I wasn't thinking about! My start: Pay yourself first. I'm anxious to see what you come up with! |

Reputation: | Ben Franklin had many of these: "A penny saved is a penny earned." "If you'd lose a troublesome visitor, lend him money." "If you would know the value of money, go and try to borrow some." "Remember that time is money." "He that is of Opinion Money will do every Thing, may well be suspected of doing every Thing for Money." Also, here's one from Charles Dickens' David Copperfield, which I'll include here because I always have trouble finding it when I need it: "Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery." Last edited by rstlne; 03-05-2008 at 08:27 AM. |

Reputation: | another Ben Franklin quote: "Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of filling a vacuum, it makes one.” and another I forget where it came from: "The art is not in making money, but in keeping it” and my mom's favorite: "Money doesn't grow on trees" A side note, that Ben Franklin quote made me remember either a quote or just something that someone was saying one time and it was something like this: "If you walk into a room of kings and royalty, you will think 'wow! I'm so poor, look at all they have and I have none of that'. But if you walk into a room of paupers, most people never think 'wow! I am so rich, look at all I have that others don't.' I think that that is a great statement about how we can have so much, yet always want more, and not stop to appreciate what we have. |

Reputation: | "Money is the root of all evil". "Money doesn't buy happiness". And my favourite, courtesy of Homer Simpson when he finds a penny under the sofa rather than the peanut he was looking for: "Money can be exchanged for goods and services". |

Reputation: | Not to be picky, but if you're quoting the Bible, the quote is actually "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils." 1 Timothy 6:10 (in the English Standard Version). It's similar in the other translations. |

Reputation: | Well, Biggie Smalls said, in a home video that's placed in the middle of that P Diddy music video, "That's real yo... The more money you make, the more problems you get." Maybe he says mo, I can't really remember exactly since it's been several years since I've last seen that music video. Here's another: "First you get the power, then you get the money, then you get the women." Maybe it's money then power, I forget. I'll check over the weekend since I own the movie on VHS and DVD ^_^-b. |

Reputation: | wow~you have a great memory! I don't remember anything about the video...I just thought the title of the song was "mo money, mo problems"--I wasn't speaking about the actual pronounciation of the words |
