Default SATA hd installation

How do I add a SATA hd as a second hd when the primary drive is EIDE?

Your computer needs to have a SATA controller. Most newer computers have one built into the motherboard. If not you can buy an expansion card. They are relatively inexpensive. You will also need a SATA power connector. Again most newer power supplies have a few of those; if not you will either need to buy an adapter or swap power supplies. At the risk of stating the obvious you will need a SATA data cable that is long enough to stretch comfortably from the controller to the drive.
