Reputation: | I've made quite a few posts now and thought I might as well go ahead and introduce myself (and up my chances of winning the $20 Amazon GC!). I'm 39, married, have a 12-yo son and a 10-yo daughter from my first marriage who live with me full-time. I have a PhD in anthropology but currently work as a freelance editor and Spanish/Portuguese translator. My husband is a commercial HVAC mechanic. We live in the Maryland suburbs of DC, but also recently bought a "vintage" (not antique) log cabin in Central PA that we are renovating. We have long discussed doing an early retirement/hobby farm sort of thing once the kids are out of the house. I grew up in the midwest, but really like the mid-Atlantic region a lot better, except for the traffic around DC. |

Reputation: | Hi, I'm lilac. I've been reading Wise Bread for probably about a year now, and have recently discovered the forums. Recent college grad born and bred in Silicon Valley, and have only a month and a half ago moved permanently to England to be with my long-time boyfriend. Currently crying that my bank account is worth half of what it was in California. Trying to keep my hands off of my savings, which is reserved for a year's worth of tuition + international fees for a teacher credential course here. Eventually will become a secondary school French teacher. Self-declared TV addict too, although I really don't like watching tv unless one of my shows is on. I really enjoy 24, Scrubs, Heroes, Chuck (yay for the Nerd Herd!), 30 Rock, Nip Tuck and Desperate Housewives. I used to be an avid viewer of Lost and Reno 911 but both of them have been really awful lately, unfortunately. Probably the only adult in the world, or so it seems, that doesn't know how to play poker. Royal flush is the good one, right? I think that was in a Bond film somewhere. Huge fan of xkcd. Interests include: cooking, languages, biking, reading, learning about new technologies, rocking out to Singstar, feeling my girly arms ache from Wii games, reading up on nutrition, reading up on environmentally friendly things, linguistics, listening to music, watching movies, playing music (trombone and electric bass), browsing enviro, frugal, cooking and pf blogs, researching things online. |

Ride my beautiful horse, love to read, have lots of kerosene lanterns, grind wheat for baking bread, etc,...... I welcome questions and new friends! |
