Wow, thanks everyone for all the responses! There are so many movies I want to see. We've cut back even more on our spending lately so it'll be a while before I can see all of your recommendations, but I will definitely keep them all in mind.

I'm thinking of joining Columbia House because Hulu has gotten us hooked on a bunch of great TV shows that we'd love to get and see all of. Does anyone here have a membership with them?

I do. I have a membership that I bought through MyPoints, so I got points for the initial membership + for what I buy.

I had a membership with CH a long time ago for CDs, and wasn't very happy, but I like it much more now. It's the ease of the system now that I like, you can do it all by internet.

I think I got 10 movies from them when I first subscribed, and I don't remember the average price but it was about $3 a movie, I think. I now have to buy 4 more movies, which are, of course, more expensive, about $20 each. So that's $30 for the first 10 movies, plus $80 for the next four, which works out to an average of $7.85 a movie. Not bad, plus you can stretch it out over two years.

I also like that you can get TV shows from them.

I just found out the entire series of Firefly is available on Hulu.

http://www.hulu.com/firefly

Firefly is the short-lived (11 episodes aired, 14 episodes shot) TV series from Joss Whedon. It was turned into the movie Serenity.

Warning: After watching the last episode of Firefly, you will be sad and angry that network TV (FOX) canceled the show. We want more!!

This is one of the reasons I'm thinking of joining CH ... I want to get all my favorite shows someday. Do they have a lot of good sales on TV shows? Do you know their prices for TV series? (I can't see the price on their site because it says "Members Only".)

The prices depend I think. What makes it worth it, for me, is the average price of a DVD over the two years and with the minimum purchases.

For example:
Weeds Season 2 $17.97
Smallville Season 7 $35.97
Battlestar Galictica Season 3 $35.97

They say that these are sale prices, but they're the sort of prices I've always paid.
