Default Steve & Barry brings us $10 dresses!

I knew these guys sell amazingly cheap t-shirts, but I didn't know they also sold dresses.

I think they look neat!

Quote:
Steve & Barry’s sells stylish celebrity-branded clothes at prices that are absurdly inexpensive, lower than those at Old Navy, H & M or Forever 21, undercutting even Wal-Mart by as much as half.

At its 264 barnlike stores in malls across the country, including the perpetually mobbed one at the Manhattan Mall in Midtown, Steve & Barry’s offers an assortment of flowery sundresses designed by Sarah Jessica Parker ($8.98), heart-printed hoodies by the Nickelodeon alumna Amanda Bynes ($8.98) and basketball shoes by the New York Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury ($8.98). Lines at the registers are often 20 deep.

The question on everyone’s lips: How do they make a decent dress or a jacket, with sleeves, or a pair of functioning shoes for $8.98?

I'm all about frugality and saving money, especially on trendy clothes, but these cost so little that I wonder how they're made. I figure the quality is not great, but for something trendy that will be out of style in a year, I can handle that. But I can't help but wonder what the working conditions are for the people who make these dresses.

In the article it says they monitor and demand the manufacturers do not run sweatshops--they can affort less than $10 clothing because run their company on a "razor slim margin".

No way to prove that is true, but the owners certainly seem to have strong ethical views.

They look nice. Wish we had one here so I could see them first hand.

Sounds keen. I like the idea they may come to underpreforming malls. maybe they'll make it somewhere near me since we're so back woods.

That is the most wonderful expression in the world. I love it.

I often wondered why this store doesn't sell stuff online. The only way to buy their stuff online is through eBay.

Thanks for the heads up about Steve & Barry's. I didn't even know there was one near my house now! I join in the amazement about their prices, and the black & white coat on the Sarah Jessica Parker website is adorable. As long as you have to look good, you might as well do it frugally!

You really have to try the stuff on because some of it fits "funny" but for basics like tees and such, it's worth it. None of the more "trendy" things (like the dresses) seem to fit me right though.

They also sell shoes, bags, and jewelry and even undies!
