Default Strong dollar policy is useful fairy tale for U.S.

"The reassurances have continued even as the dollar index, which measures it against a basket of six major currencies, has fallen nearly 40from its peak in 2002 over 8of that in 2007 alone."

I hope the USD comes back this year. Maybe this new legislation will help things.

With our trade deficit, economic problems, and dovish Federal Reserve, I had a hard time believing that the USD was going to do anything but weaken. I've been hedging against dollar decline for several years now by investing in precious metals, hard currencies, and foreign dividend-paying stocks/trusts, the goal being to preserve my purchasing power.
