Default TV shows that ended before their time

My picks:

Freaks and Geeks - One of the most honest portryals of high school life I've ever seen. It is like Wonder Years without the honey.

Angel - Not as popular as Joss Whedon's other vampire show (Buffy), but this show deserved at least two more seasons to wrap up.

Seinfeld - I understand the need to go out on top, but this show was so awesome that I would rather watch the worst episode of Seinfeld than almost any other show on TV.

Arrested Development. My fiance and I recently watched the first season and half the second season (waiting 'til we're together again to watch the rest--he lives in Chicago), and it is one of those "uncomfortable" shows (like the office), but so very addicting.

Popular. This was one of those WB (now the CW I think?) teen dramas and it was on around 1999-2000ish. Full of unpredictable twists and turns, larger than life characters, but also some real issues. I never knew when it was on due to stupid programming conflicts in Columbus. (WB and UPN shared the same broadcast station and they'd often pre-empt the WB shows with the UPN shows--it was a mess). I loved what I saw of it, though.

WKRP in Cincinatti--I miss that show so much. I wish they would put out a DVD of all the old shows with the correct music.

St. Elsewhere--Precursor to ER and had a lot of style. Although it had a good run (6 years) it deserved a couple more years on the air.

Northern Exposure

Also seconding Freaks and Geeks. Wonderful show that was cancelled much too soon, before it even had a chance to get going.

WKRP: The turkey drop scene is one of the greatest moments in television history.

Arrested Development: I've heard so many great things about this show I really have to check it out!

My picks are Firefly and Gargoyles.

Firefly is one of those rare tv shows that break all conventions and cliches. The "hero" is a malcontent ex-army captain leading a band of lovable space scavengers. In this show, the good guys shoot first and not everything is wrapped up neatly in 40 minute chunks. Out of 3,213 reviews on Amazon, 2,995 gave it 5 stars.

Gargoyles was my favorite cartoon growing up. I love how the show examines all the motives of the villains and their POV. Having lots of Star Trek voice cameos didn't hurt either.

Gargoyles was a show I enjoyed as a kid as well. At the time I did feel they ended it too soon, but thinking back... I'm not so sure.

I'm a fan of anime shows, and 2 that I absolutely wish could've continued are:

Berserk: went something like 24 or 25 shows. Great cartoon!

Hajime No Ippo: Went about 75 shows, and an OVA and maybe a movie as well. 75 is a lot, but the comic kept going and it's really good!!!!!

Personally I think Seinfeld ended at the right time. 9 season or so is pretty long and they wanted to end the series on top, rather than fade away.

The Wire I hear is ending after next season. Which would be terrible since I absolutely love this show!!!!

My boyfriend said that anime reminds him of Punch Out.

I'm into really into this old school romance anime called KOR Orange Road. It ran for a long time but I still can't get enough!

This goes back to 1971>>> the original "Dark Shadows", and the 1991 revised "Dark Shadows". I loved the eerie music and the engrossing plots. Because I was a kid who lived in the country and rode the bus home from school, I never got to watch it during the school year (unless I was sick at home). It came on at 3 pm Central time and I didn't get home until almost 4 pm.

Married People --this lasted just a season. It showed vignettes from the lives of three couples, all at different life stages, in the same apartment building. Jay Thomas was the husband of the youngest couple; I love him!

Shows that could never be too long for me also: Seinfeld, Star Trek (old version), Get Smart, The Twilight Zone, Scrubs (sniff).
