Hello

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a good (preferably free) web hosting service

and anywhere else you could purchase a domain main

Godaddy.com
You can buy Domains, and they offer free hosting, except you have to have their advertising banner on the top of your page.
You could Always just ask around and see if a friend has their own server, and get them to host your site for you.

Otherwise you could Set up your own server. ( depending on what you want to do. it might be pointless )

otherwise pay the 5 dollars a month to get it hosted with who ever.

you can also try enom.com

I've used both, their both good. but if you're just starting off. godaddy.com seems to be simpler.
