Thanks Will. Is there going to be any way to see who gave you points? What I did was leave my name (along with why I gave it to them) in the comment section so they know it's from me.

A scale huh? LOL!! I like a cloud better.

20 different people before reping the same person again? Umm That sounds a little high.

I've given reputation to only a few people so far. And I'm 99 percent sure that I'll want to give them reputation again based on the content of their posts, before I've even rep'd 10 other people. It has nothing to do with being friends with them, and everything to do with what they've said.

Please consider reducing that # because wow 20 is a lot.

Maybe it is 20 per day, but no repeats and then the next day you start over again. So if you only give credit to 2 people one day, the next day you can do the same 2 again....wait a minute, that doesn't sound right, because then why would they have two separate rules. It would just be max. 20/day. Nevermind.

That's a good point. 20 is a good number if a forum is really big. But you're right that it does sound high for a forum of this size.

I've made the following changes (but will change it back to 20 once forum gets bigger):

Quote:
  • You can only give 10 people points per 24 hour period.
  • You have to give 10 different people reputation points before giving the same person points again (this prevents you from rewarding the same friend again and again).

kav...I don't see any place that shows who gave reputation points. I wish it did because I would like to know who did it.
We're still thinking about this one.

It would be nice to see who gave you the good vibes, but on the other hand, anonymous voting might encourage more honest voting.

I would like to put in a vote for anonymous voting. The point is to have both positive and negative reputation and I think that people will be less likely to give negative if they know their name will be shown. It also might lead to reciprocal reputation giving, which could just artificially inflate reputation and end up missing some really great posters.

Thanks Megan. Right now we are using an anonymous system. What you said makes a lot of sense. I think we'll keep it anonymous.

Yup, it's the Scales of Justice. ^_^

While it's fun to see who left you reputation, I have to cast my vote for keeping it anonymous if we can give both positive and negative reputation.
On one of the forums I run, we've disabled negative reputation entirely, so people can only leave positive points we use it as a "Kudos" system, so we have it set so you can see who left you reputation points.

Thanks for setting the number of people you must give points to before returning to the same person to 10 Will, that's much easier to do on a forum this size! ^_^

Aha! I love being able to "rep" someone who is really helpful! Great feature!
