Default [Win a $250 giftcard] What is your favorite article of clothing?

This is one of the official Marshalls $250 giveaway threads.

Marshalls is giving away a $250 gift card to a randomly selected Wise Bread reader in this thread. This is part of their promotion to raise awareness for the new Cube and Megashoe sections in their stores.

How to participate

Just post a comment in this thread. You must be a US resident and be 18 or over. We'll randomly pick a winner from this thread on 9/15/08.

The topic

Tell us what is your favorite article of clothing (shoes and accessories counts too). Is it your favorite sweatshirt from college? The pair of earrings you got for your 18th birthday? Or do you just have a general weakness for shoes? We want to know.

The other two contest threads

This topic not your cup of tea? Try out these other two threads which are also giving away $250 gift cards. You can enter all three threads, but you can only win once.

My favorite item of clothing is this soft blue-grey shirt with a hoodie. If I'm having a bad hair day or want to try to hide that I'm dozing in class (though I don't know if I hide it very well, haha) or something, I just pull the hoodie up.

If accessories count, then my favorite article of clothing is a silver necklace shaped like an ancient coin from Rhodes. I bought it when I went to Greece in 2005, and I wear it all the time - literally. I never take it off. Maybe that's not the best practice for caring for a piece of fairly expensive jewelry, but I know that if I take it off, I'll never remember to put it on again, and it will just languish in a drawer somewhere getting tangled up with other necklaces. :-)

My favorite article of clothing for lounging around the house is a comfy pair of fleece pants. So cozy and forgiving. For looking nice, I'd really have to say my accessories are my favorites. A black velvet scarf with a trailing vine pattern on it, and a silver cloisonné necklace that was passed down through the family - those two are my special event go-to's.

My favorite piece of clothing is actually a Goodwill find. After dropping off several donations last year, I browsed around the store a bit and found a forest green V-neck pullover in a very flattering style for my larger frame and made out of a soft Jersey knit. It was in almost-new condition and is definitely one of my "feel good" shirts to wear. Of course, now I've worn it so much that it is starting to show it's age. Hopefully it'll last me another year or so, at which time I'll try and either find a sewing pattern of similar design or simply attempt to make up one myself. Finding something flattering is rare for me, so I tend to keep those items even beyond death in the hopes of recreating them somehow.

I looove shoes, but I can never decide on a pair. For myself, I buy more shirts than anything else. My favorite piece of clothing is my white pair of loungy pants.

The one thing that I reach for when I'm feeling like I need a hug is this slightly oversized cashmere v-neck sweater my guy got for me when we first started dating. So soft and warm and reassuring. Also a silver ring with three tiny diamond set into the band that I hardly ever take off since it goes with everything.

My favorite article of clothing is a little black dress from Banana Republic that makes me feel like a million bucks. It's made of cotton jersey and comes to a sort of knot/twist at the chest, which creates a really flattering drape up through the bust and down through the tummy. I can either dress it up or down, but I love dressing it up with burgundy satin kitten heels and a burgundy pashmina shawl. It's one of the few items I've bought at full price and not regretted one penny of it, because it has been so versatile.

Default sparrow

because accessories count, i'm giong to say the small sparrow charm necklace i bougth for myself off of Etsy.com. it is a tiny silver sparrow on a chain. . .and i bought it for myself for a landmark mid-life birthday. See, sailors would get sparrow tattoos once they had sailed half-way around the world -so i wantesd a sparrow to celebrate my "halfway around" point as well <but am now too old and wise to get an actual tattoo>. my sparrow is removable, but i have yet to take it off. i love it.
