Default WINNERS: What did you DO with your $20 Amazon gift certificate?

Just curious........
I was lucky enough to win one of the $20 Amazon gift certificates that Will was passing out earlier this year. I am not by nature a "lucky" person so I was determined to make a wise decision in how I spent my $20.

I looked all around, I considered practical groceries (amazon DOES sell groceries ). "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime".hmmmmmm

I considered buying some vitamins on line for a healthier lifestyle. Nahhhh I'd rather go to my Medicine Store and get suggestions from my A+ friendly pharmacist. She made a lasting impression on me when she gave me a natural remedys paperback that first time in her shop.

I debated on a shower head to replace the one in the front bathroom but didn't see the urgency in that since that shower is never used. However, this home repair did rank a solid second place.

Soooooo my final decision ended up being the "Magic Jack". It was an additional $25 out of my pocket BUT if it works for me, I will see a savings of perhaps $25 + a month in long distance service for the next year. Wondering if anyone on this forum has tried the Magic Jack and what was your experience? I must confess that the infomercials on this voip type phone system have had my attention for weeks, thinking its wayyyy better than sliced bread IF it works as advertised......

So if you wouldn't mind - past winners of the $20 amazon gift card - please share with us all here what you ended up spending your gift certificate on? I'd think Will would be interested in hearing your responses as well...........

Best regards,
J~

I bought four used books from Amazon sellers for cheap. So cheap that I think I only added about 18 cents of my own money. Yup, I am a Tightwad.
One of the books I picked was "Your Money or Your Life" which I've been needing to read for a while now and it's so good. The rest of them were fun books--a couple of novels and a cookbook. I think Will says in his email that you are not to use it on something practical or else you get in big, big trouble with him

I'd just like to publicly say 'thanks' to Will and Wise Bread forums for the gift certificate.
I hope they keep doing it long enough for everyone to win at least once.

Ewwwwwwww I am in trouble, I was so excited about winning I didn't follow the rules But in my defence, I promise to blow my phone bill savings (IF the MagicJack WORKS LIKE ADVERTISED) on FUN stuff.......

There was a book I liked since several years ago, but it was over $80. Then a paperback edition was published, much cheaper, but for one reason or the other I never ordered it.
So when I won, I knew it was the time to get it, and it costed me only $8, so thanks a lot to this forum and the administrator :-)

I haven't spent mine yet, because I live in NZ the postage is over half of the voucher - I'll add some to it and get a photography book I think:0)

I keep a private wishlist of things that I want to buy from Amazon when I have the money. I've got an Amazon credit card, so I occasionally get gift certificates from that as well. A lot of they get used to buy certain grocery items or for various gifts for family birthdays, but I decided this one was for me and for something that I wanted, not something I needed. So I used to buy a dvd that I had been eyeing for months. Nothing exciting, but it made me happy.

I haven't spent mine yet. Normally I'd buy books, but I have a ton of books at home that I need to read before I add to my collection.

I haven't spent mine yet either. I've been trying to find the best prices on toys and treats for the pups with it. Or some electronic gizmo but haven't found anything thats caught my eye. I did debate buying Slim Jims (there was a deal that netted you something like 200 for under $20 shipped) but decided to hold off even though my husband and dad would have been in heaven.

I haven't used mine yet. I combined mine with a $25 gift certificate I got for my birthday. I want to save it for something special.
