Reputation: | Argh, darn it. I'd meant to post this as a poll. Does anyone know if you can add a poll after submitting? --- Hi everyone, I've recently started a blog where I will be reviewing books and movies and recommending them using affiliate programs (to earn commissions). The 2 major merchants I am considering are Amazon and Overstock.com, and I'm having a hard time deciding. I find that: Amazon seems to be a more popular site and has a larger selection, but, Overstock often has lower prices but seems less popular than Amazon. So, I'd really appreciate everyone's input on which merchant would you be more likely to purchase these types of items (books & movies) from? Thanks for your help!

Reputation: | Amazon w/o a doubt. When I buy from em, it's usually a couple of things and the bigger selection is huge. Also since they been so big for so long, just like a habit to go with them. |

Reputation: | Overstock doesn't ship internationally as far as I can tell, so I couldn't buy from them. I much prefer Amazon, I can search their .uk, .ca sites as well and then get the best deal depending on what I am buying. |

Reputation: | Probably Amazon. I guess mostly because I haven't ever used Overstock. Not much of a reason, I'll admit, so I'm open to exploring it! |

Reputation: | I didn't even know Overstock had books! I'm assuming they are remaindered (overstock) copies? Those usually sell pretty cheaply on Amazon as well. Maybe a couple bucks cheaper on O, but I think the option of offering a wider selection might be one advantage to Amazon. For me, as well, I've got 1-click checkout setup on Amazon, so that's another advantage in my mind. |

Reputation: | Thanks everyone for all the replies so far. Looks like Amazon is gonna be the winner, which is good because I've already applied and been approved. Quote:
We've bought quite a few movies from them and once saved about $15 from what it would've been from Amazon. A nice thing about Overstock is the low flat rate shipping and they ship much quicker than Amazon's free shipping. But we do mostly buy from Amazon too, and probably will exclusively from now on since we just got their Credit Card this month.

Reputation: | I've probably purchased more from Amazon than I have from Overstock, but I think that's mostly due to the larger selection at Amazon and some of their deal of the day things. Most of the time, I buy from whoever has what I want to buy at the best price. Overstock is often cheaper on a per item basis, but with free shipping at Amazon, it's often a wash. When there is not difference or the difference is only a few pennies, I usually go with Amazon. The warehouse they use to ship books and movies to my region has to be somewhere in the DFW area, because I usually get books and movies within two days after they say they've shipped. Overstock can take up to a week, sometimes more. |

Reputation: | Hello! We use Amazon. We usually don't have to shipping and that can mean a lot. I have bought from Overstock without a problem. It just seems that Amazon is easier to navigate. Cindi |

Reputation: | I've never bought anything from Overstock so my vote has to go to Amazon too. Amazon's free super saver shipping is a nice bonus. |
