Reputation: | OK, this is really wierd because I wrote up my faves and thought I hit post . . . apparently not . . . or it's floating around in electron land. Here we go again: 1. How Stella Got Her Groove Back 2. Zaatar Days, Henna Nights (Maliha Masood - just finished reading it) 3. For mindless fun, any of the mystery solving caterer books by Dianne Motte Davidson. 4. The entire Outlander series by Dianna Gabaldon 5. The Polar Express (Chris Van Allsburg is one of my favorite Children's author / illustrators of all time) How's that? Hope it goes through this time. |

Reputation: | Hmmmm.... a "mystery solving caterer"? That sounds like great fun! Just a few nights ago I caught an NPR interview with Sarah Paretsky, the author of the popular VI Warshawski series (you might remember the popular movie based on that book, starring Kathleen Turner). I've never read the series, but Paretsky brought up many fascinating points about the mystery genre. She compared detectives to cowboys--they ride into town, dispense justice in a lawless land, and ride off into the sunset. I might give Davidson's series a try. Thanks Myscha! |
