Reputation: | One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Seriously the only book I cried over Neuromancer - really cool SciFi Collection of Oscar Wilde stories including The Picture of Dorian Gray and some dark fairy tales Journey to the West - read this in Chinese when I was a kid Brave New World ---- Not sure if these are my top five, but they're close. I also really liked the Ender's Game series.

Reputation: | For better or worse, I haven't read much fiction for pleasure in a long, long time. So some of these are from a long time ago and they might not be my favorites today. Ulysses -- Joyce Lolita -- Nabakov Sons and Lovers -- DH Lawrence Slaughterhouse Five --Kurt Vonnegut Invisible Man -- Ralph Ellison Oh my godness, there's so much left off this list! John Cheever and Ray Carver...Pynchon...Tom Robbins...Garcia Marquez...Bill Bryson...Conrad ...yes, I was an English major! It spoiled me for literature. I have a hard time holding my focus to read "complex" lit-rah-toor any more, but I can't stomach grocery-store or "genre" fiction. |
