Default Your favorite radio shows and podcasts

I noticed a big jump in membership in the last 24 hours. Are you all from Linsey's appearance on NPR? If so, welcome everyone!

We've had favorite books and favorite movie thread. Why not a favorite radio / podcast thread!

My favorite show of all time is This American Life with Ira Glass. My friends say his voice is annoying but I beg to differ. He has a way of telling stories that makes me want to listen on forever. What are your favorite radio shows or podcasts?

I like Car Talk and Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me from NPR. Both are available as podcasts, which is great for when I'm not able to listen to them when they're broadcast. I listen to This American Life and Prairie Home Companion at times. The This American Life that has all of the stories from summer camp is one of my favorites.

I have a number of other podcasts that I listen to regularly.
Slice of Sci-Fi does a lot of science fiction media news as well as a usually interesting interview each week. Although they're not always as good as they should be about avoiding spoilers/providing spoiler alerts (although they're not as bad as they used to be).

I listen to a couple of podcasts of Reformed University Fellowship (RUF, college ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America) large group messages. I particularly like Les Newsome's messages at RUF Ole Miss and Rob Hamby's lessons out of RUF TCU.

I also enjoy a number of podio books/audio dramas.
JC Hutchins' 7th Son trilogy was very good. It's a story of seven men who find out they are all clones of the same, currently insane and bent on ruling the world man. The clones are called upon to stop the man they were cloned from.

Mur Lafferty's Playing for Keeps was enjoyable. Playing for Keeps is a story of a group of people with lesser super powers (like the power to control elevators) who get caught up between the "real" heroes and villans.

Space Casey was a fun little audio drama of little consequence. The episodes are short, the story isn't overly complicated, and, as I said, it was a lot of fun.

I also am enjoying Buffy Between the Lines. This is a fan produced audio drama that's filling in the story of what happens between the seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. For their first set of episodes, they're fililng in between Buffy seasons 5 and 6. Some of the episodes are better than others and they're still working out some issues with the audio quality. But, overall, I've really enjoyed the shows.

And I always keep at least a few episodes of Escape Pod on my iPod for when I've listened to all my other podcasts or when I just want a good story. Escape Pod features short works of sci-fi, fantasy and the occasional not terribly scary horror/suspense story. The horror stuff goes to Pseudo Pod, which I don't listen to.

Years ago I lived in an area where I could pick up the broadcast signal of a station that was part of the Moody Broadcasting network, I listened to a mix of Christian music, sermons and radio shows such as "Truth for Life", "Key Life" and "Moody Presents". Now that so many of the programs are available through internet radio or can be subscribed to via iTunes podcast selections, I no longer listen to radio over the air. Initially, it takes longer to find and subscribe, then download and listen to podcasts but working it into a daily routine has made it easier. The downside is that I don't get the exposure to new programs that I would by tuning in a radio station and passively listening. Takes out the spontaneity of life and makes it too easy to fall into a rut.

My favorite (as well as my husbands) are Ted Talks (http://www.ted.com/talks).
They are normally very interesting, cover a variety of topics and really make you think. We also subscribe to the 10th Wonder (Heroes TV show) and Photoshop User TV (http://www.photoshopusertv.com/) which has a contest in every episode for some pretty nice stuff.
