Reputation: | Has anyone read Tim Ferriss' 4 Hour Workweek? Here's the website for the book: The 4-Hour Workweek and Timothy Ferriss The title is so tantilizing. Here's a review by Trent and one by JD. Their assestment is basically: there are some flaws, but there are also lots of good bits. |

Reputation: | I read the book. I thought it was great. There are some things I couldn't use, but there were also some great ideas I got from it. I plan to read it again, after my friends are doing borrowing it. |

Reputation: | It is a great inspiration. It will help you restore your thinking on being liberated. Tim offers tactics that may help you success in business and personal life such as outsourcing, testing, negotiation, n etc. Go to any bookstore and scan through the book to see if it float your boat. |

Reputation: | I had read it just before I started writing for Wise Bread, so it was the first review I wrote here: Book Review: The 4-Hour Workweek | Wise Bread I thought it was worth reading. Whether it lets you achieve a 4-hour workweek yourself is a more complex question. |

Thanks for the link. I totally missed that article you wrote. Bad admin. Quote:
Typical (I think) of a sysadmin's todo list I have a bunch of stuff that are kinda important but not more important than the day-to-day fires or the couple of super-important / time-sensitive projects always around. These semi-important projects get indefinitely pushed back. In all likelihood they're never going to get done, but they just sit there. Taunting me. I could use some efficiency tweaks. | ||

Reputation: | I give this book a thumbs up. If you are thinking about changing your life with regards to how you earn your income (as opposed to what you do from 9-5 to earn your income), than this is the book for you. He also provides some valuable resources that are definately worth having.

Reputation: | I absolutely loved this book. Being an entrepreneur, I found most of Tim's advice to be priceless - and I made sure to buy the book for each of my entrepreneurial (or similarly minded) friends for Christmas. The only part that I didn't like about the book is that Tim spent almost the entire second half of the book talking about how to start - and outsource - a business. While I appreciate all the information he provided, it is not for everyone. I have my own business that's, frankly, un-outsourcable, and there are lots of people I know who can use his other ideas but don't have it in them to start a business. That said, though, the book is definitely worth buying, if only to get access to the readers-only part of his site that contains lots of articles about life, the Universe and everything. |

Reputation: | I am better than 3/4 done with the book, a great inspiration for breaking out of the status quo. It really highlights the hardwired work culture most of us have bought into from the time we were crawling around on all fours. Some of the stuff I already incorporate in my daily life (emails, voicemail, etc...) It also takes some of the fear out entreprenuership, since if you create a virtually automated business you could still work 9-5. www.mashablesociety.blogspot.com |

Reputation: | FI bought it last year and thought it was a marvelous book. Tim Ferris also keeps a blog for you to see how he does it. The book itself is great inspiration and a lot of it you'll actually need to develop some guts to perform in order to get to a 4-hour work week. |

Reputation: | I read it a few months ago, and I'd agree that it's really great inspiration. You go through some chapters and think - wow, maybe I could really make this work, and then I'd be tango/kickboxing champion of the world! Unfortunately, though, some of it's a bit pie-in-the-sky...he has some interesting ideas about telecommuting more often that might not apply to everyone. For example, I work in a research lab, and I can't bring all my work home (unless I want to grow bacteria in the oven!). I'd bet that a lot of other people have similar challenges. |
