naesa, have you considered going to a sleep specialist? you might have sleep apnea!

my trick: play my favorite music at full blast! nothing gets me out of bed like a good dose of arcade fire, jenny lewis, and sigur ros.

most often, I can't jump on the first ring... I snooze once or twice, and sometimes I even push the button before I know what I'm doing!!

As said, going early to bed is the best way. But I can't... internet is too attractive...

My neighbours in the apartment upstairs usually wake me up in the morning. Charging back and forth, with the occasional scream at eachother that they're going to be late for work .

It's perfect since I start my day right about when they're ready to leave . 90 percent of time up before alarm clock goes off hehe.

And on weekends they sleep in *yay!*.

Default waking up?

I had 4 hungry cat alarm clocks, but 2 died of old age this year. Poor things. The one was the most persistent alarm clock ever invented - and I still slept through it. One of the two left is too shy to wake anyone up, the other just sits on me until I get out of bed, then she runs to her scratching post for her victory scratch (very weird beast).

I have had sleep problems for about 3 years, and two weeks ago tried some new tricks to get myself out of bed. It does not always work. My cell phone is set to ring at 6:00 AM every work day. It does not stop until I answer it. I keep it in the next room set on loud. I can still manage to go back to bed after I have gotten up, found the phone and shut it off, but since I made getting up with the alarm a resolution, I have managed to get up about 75 % of the time. That is progress

Omg! what a nasty shock to the system that would be :0) I'm on a break until Feb, and *really* enjoying waking up at leisure. Saying that I was up and about at 7.30am this morning

It helps to have a pair of teen-age boys who have to be at a bus stop two miles away at 630a. But I really like what the late George Plimpton said when he was asked how he was able to wake up so early:

"Drink lots of water before going to bed."

The only thing I have read which works is consistency. Get up at the same time everyday, not just work days, don't take holidays off, don't' give yourself a treat, always the same time. Eventually your body will catch on. Of course for most of us that is really hard. I love sleeping in on the weekends. But from what I have read about sleep research consistency is the only thing that really works.

Ask your roomie to pour a bucket of water on you. haha.
Always works me. And there's no need for a alaram if your roomie is an insomniac.

Ok..I was just kidding. Just tell any people you have around you that you gonna wake up at x hrs. And get up at x hrs. It's as simple as that. And please dont stay up watching Tv.

Argh, I made that mistake last night, I wish they wouldn't put BBC world news on all night, lol. It was 3am when I got to bed!

Yup. I know what you mean. Television is a major reason...people sleep late. (And me too.) How can you expect to get up early when you wont sleep early. I think there's need for discipline. Which i dont have btw.

There's also Internet and games. But most of my friends like to stay up at night for no particular reason.
