Something else to keep in mind if your really struggling with getting up in the morning is that it might be a symptom of a sleep disorder or bio-chemical imbalance.

We had a cat like that when we were younger. In high school, he would wake me up at 3:00AM every night to let him out. (One night he turned on the computer in our room to get my attention. We never could tell if it was intentional, but it worked.) Then at 5:00Am he would wake my sister up to let him back in by meowing outside the window.

Funny thing was, my sister and I shared a room, but I only ever heard him at 3:00 and my sister never heard him then. And the opposite at 5:00. We figure he had a different code name for each of us and only whoever he was calling would hear him.

By the time we were in college and he was a little older, the schedule moved back a few hours so it worked for us on school days but made us real mad when we wanted to sleep in on weekends.

I have to get up around 4:20 am nearly every morning. I've found that the only surefire way to get up is to set an alarm. It also helps if I go to bed at a reasonable hour.
