Reputation: | I can do this when I take lunchtime naps at work, or if it's the weekend and I have to be up for something cool. Or if I don't HAVE to be up. But if I HAVE to be up (which is 90% of the time), oh do I fight it! |

Reputation: | I get up at the same time every day. My body gets used to it so I automatically get up without an alarm clock now. |

Reputation: | I have a really loud alarm at the opposite side of my room, so I theoretically get up to turn it off and am then awake, but really I crawl over to it beat it profusely with my morning rage and crawl back to bed, every morning without exception. I also leave my blinds open so the sun bakes me in my bed. It really leads to a terrible and painful morning every morning. I am thinking about getting a really uncomfortable bed or just sleeping on the floor so that I hate sleeping and am more comfortable standing.

Reputation: | I agree that going to bed when you need to is the key for most people. One thing that works for me, but unfortunately not my husband, is that I set my alarm for the last reasonable minute that I can get out of bed and not be late. No snoozing, no dawdling, just up, ready, dressed, and out. There's no time for "five more minutes." I know that I have to do it when the alarm goes off. This is highly incompatible with my 6 snoozes husband, but it works for me. |

Reputation: | Best thing to do is set your alarm 10min earlier than it should be and then place it on the other side of the room. This way you will have to get out of bed no matter what. maybe set 2 alarms and hide them around the room. |

| Senior Member | I usually can just get up. Pretty much once my alarm clock goes off my brain knows what needs to happen. I've never been a snooze button kind of girl. Even so, I still hate mornings! |

| Member | We haven't used an alarm clock in the past five or six years, and continue to get up around 5:30 or 6 every day. The only time we set a clock is for times where we have to be up earlier, and can't afford to be late. I guess it's just our bodies so used to a schedule..or we're just getting old. :-) |

Reputation: | Woot, first post! I have a routine that has built up over time that works for me and involves a lot of the great suggestions in this thread. The key, though, was noting what my excuses were when turning off the alarm and climbing back into bed. Then, that night, I'd try to beat myself to the punch and eliminate the excuse, or its cause, so I wouldn't have that crutch the following morning. Nowadays, clothes are already selected and laid out, coffee already made, first task all ready to go, lunch made, etc. The one excuse that still gets me from time to time is, "Man, will I feel like this all day? I bet more sleep would fix the problem." I suppose attack cats would put this problem into perspective though. |

| Senior Member | Speaking of cats, my sister's cat wakes her up before the alarm every morning because she's hungry. The cat is pretty relentless too, making noise and walking all over my sister until she wakes up. |
