Default How to always wake up on time in the morning

I'm naturally a night owl so getting up before 8:00 am for me is almost impossible. So I have to almost bribe myself to get up in the morning.

These two strategies have worked pretty well for me:
  • Promise yourself a tasty treat - I allow myself to eat my favorite snack (green tea ice cream) only when I wake up in the morning.
  • Associate mornings with cheerful thoughts - We usually associate mornings with dreadful things like going to school or work. I'm trying to reverse that negative association. Every morning I allow myself to watch 20 minutes of something really funny, like Conan monologue or an episode of the Office. So when I wake up in the morning, I'm look forward to laughter.

How do you get up every morning?

I keep my curtains unfurled so the sun kicks my ass out of bed every morning. *squints*

Go to bed early and at the same time every day. You really decide when you're going to wake up the night before.

I am now waking up at 6:30 every morning, happy and ready to make the most of my day. Before when I would go to bed between 12 and 2am I HATED every morning. Going to bed at 10:30 every night changed my life and all it cost was late night TV.

Solid advice. Another tip is to resist drastically changing your schedule on the weekends by sleeping in much later. I get up at 5:45 on weekdays and on the weekends I am usually up by 8:00 or 8:30. I find that if I sleep in later, I am more prone to stay up all night and want to sleep in the next day. This compounds on Sunday and makes Monday dreadful. Having a bad Monday can throw off the rest of your week.

I hate to say it but I rarely have trouble getting up in the morning. I think what you need to do is make sure you are getting enough sleep for you. I only need 6 or 7 hours of sleep a night, so I go to bed at 12 and get up at 7. I do this 7 days a week and I don't need to set an alarm.

My grown daughter needs 10 hours of sleep a night. It is hard for her to work that into her schedule, but it is what she needs to feel refreshed.

I don't think this work for everyone. I have a touch of insomnia, and I was always told that if I can't fall asleep in 15 minutes or so, I should just get up and do something else. After forcing myself to get up at 6:15 am no matter how late I went to sleep, my body got into a rhythm. When I'm tired, I went to bed early and got up at 6:15. When I wasn't tired, I stayed up and worked and got up at 6:15. Of course, this method is also not for everyone.

HaHa, I have the Deluxe Version that features "clawing the carpeting" and
"cold nose on face" as well as the standard meow alarm.

very effective technology.

Default waking up on time -

it doesn't seem to matter what i do - i can sleep for 12 hours at a time, if i let myself. some days, i can go to bed by 10, and get up at 5, no problem - other days, i would sleep until ten. if i didn't use my alarm clock, i would never make it to work!
