Default How to nap at work

Napping increases my alertness and raises my tolerance level for my coworkers. I can catch a few winks for 30 seconds after lunch--especially if pasta is involved--but generally I can't take proper naps at work.

Do you guys have any tips on how to get a quality nap at work or how to convince your boss that napping is a good idea?

When I worked in an office everyday, I used to eat at my desk while working and take my lunch hour to go out to my truck and nap. The truck bed is covered with a camper shell and I had placed a fold-down cot inside, added a beach towel for covering, a small throw pillow, and I was set. I have the ability to sleep for 10 to 30 minutes and awake refreshed on my own without the need for an alarm clock. Unfortunately, most supervisors don't acknowledge the need for a mid-day rest so if you can slip away by yourself to your car and just lean back in the seat for a few minutes, you'll do yourself some good. Record some relaxing sounds on your iPod or download some 15 to 20 minute "naps" from Pzizz.

When I worked in an office or went to school I would also nap in the car. Put the seat down and set the alarm on my phone and put in on my shoulder.

Working in a restaurant was even easier to nap. Doubles and late nights sometimes made it a necessity to put your head down for a break. But it was more understood and accepted. A few times I put some chairs together in our banquet room to lay down, nap on my bosses desk, or pile together some tablecloths and aprons as a pillow.
