My husband uses them religiously for his personal journaling. Being an avid blogger and a computer security specialist, he likes going back to plain old pen and paper for his personal thoughts. He says he prefers moleskine for it's sturdiness and thicker paper.

How often do you need to get a new one?

That's a good point. There is always a kernel of truth to every product fad.

You put me to shame. In high school I'm lucky if I get to all my classes on time. How did you become so organized as such a young age?

Hehe, thanks. I read GTD when I was a sophomore, and that's how I got started with organization, personal development, and lifehacks. I guess I just got sick of forgetting to do homework and my home tasks, so I decided to start a system.

I'll admit, though, I've adhered less and less to GTD. I'm hoping to get the Zen To Done book so I can revise my system and get back into good organization habits!

The first one took about a year to fill up. I'm on my fourth one now and I seem to be going through them a little faster, maybe every 6 months.

I wanted to buy one. I found moleskine notepads, though too expensive, very very nice! by the way, how do you use it as a GTD item? or do you use it only as a journal?

I find the Moleskine notebooks ecpensive too.

But I dunno why..it makes me want to write in it, make lists and check things off when I'm done. I love mine and I use it everyday.

If you are trying to be frugal then Hipster PDA works well.

Having a Smart Phone beats the need to have any of the above. But everyone's choice is different.

Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy a Moleskine? Like I said, I use the extra large unlined cahiers. I bought a set of 3 at Barnes and Noble for a reasonable price, but I have to kind of far to get them. I was wondering if there is a place online to get Moleskines at a good price.

no idea if the prices are competitive as I don't live in the US but this place had an ad on this thread.

I have recently discovered them, and have to admit they look nice. Good items motivate you to do good work. Like people who needs a good pen, or yours truly using the PDA for tasks suitable for a simple paper... but I'm (very) human and need those tricks to impulse myself...

Yes that's very true. Along with the moleskine, I like to use a nice rollerball pen. I didn't go as far as buying an expensive fountain pen because I think they are just impractical. The Uniball Vision Elite pens I use are still cheap, but are still a bit pricy when you compare them to the cheap bic ballpoints which cost a few cents.
I think having the good paper and pen to write with is a big motivator to keep journaling.
