Reputation: | I'm getting into this Firefox phenomenon. I know I'm late to the party but better late than never right? What are some good extensions that will help me become more efficient? So far I've downloaded some extension that allows me to save Youtube videos. Not exactly a time saver I have to say. |

Reputation: | Read it Later right click on a page and select "read it later" from the drop down menu. When it's "later", open the menu from your toolbar and go crazy. Colorful Tabs makes each tab a different color. You can also customize it to generate colors by URL. FireFTP for those quick uploads. TinyUrl Creator That should get you started |

Reputation: | Thanks Emily! Read it Later sounds fantastic. It's especially helpful when people (i.e. the boss) comes nosing around when I'm browsing through an especially exciting online sale. |

It's also useful if there's a website that will only open in IE. Makes it much easier than trying to find IE (it's lost somewhere on my computer, I think). I also like Book Burro. It's a great price comparison when I'm on Amazon. I use it to cross-check prices at Half.com, Amazon, Amazon.com Marketplace, Alibris, and which local libraries have the book I'm looking for. |

Reputation: | I also like IE tab and Book Burro. FireForm is a great form-filling extension. Saves me a lot of time. AdBlock plus gets rid of almost every ad on websites. Very effective. I use Google Notebook to clip out bits of articles, quotes, guitar tabs, and other short pieces of information. For saving full articles and longer pieces of information, I use del.icio.us and its firefox extension. Auto Copy automatically copies what you highlight to the clipboard. Another good time-saver. Download StatusBar puts downloads in the status bar instead of in the download window and therefore saves space in the taskbar. |

Reputation: | I second the del.icio.us extension. It's been incredibly useful. Also, I forgot to mention these other two - PDF Download, and Retail Me Not. I like Retail Me Not because it jogs my memory to check for coupons when I go to purchase items online. |

Downthemall! - A download manager and accelerator that makes downloads faster and allows you to quickly download a large number or files from a website. |

Reputation: | SpeedDial Oh, I LOVE this. It gets me to my frequently-visited sites with two keystrokes (or mouse clicks). English United States (en-US) spellchecking dictionary. Spell-checks whatever I type into the browser. Yay! CookieCuller This lets me protect the cookies I want and delete the rest in one fell swoop. Resurrect Pages For when a page is dead and I really want to see what was on it. Works in most cases. Flashblock Videos that start playing automatically annoy me. This lets me stop them. del.icio.us Mmm, tags. This makes my bookmark packratting an asset instead of a hindrance. I can actually find stuff I’ve saved! Plus, I like to nose around and look through other people’s public tags for even more interesting links. (This is how I discovered WiseBread.) Adblock Goodbye, advertisements! (Well, mostly.) NoScript This lets me choose which sites get to run scripts on my browser. It protects my privacy and security. McAfee SiteAdvisor, WOT, Finjan Secure Browsing These show me which sites I can probably trust and which sites I can’t. Download Statusbar It’s a less intrusive way to download things. (It provides a handy little statusbar on the bottom of the page) |

Reputation: | Those are fantastic! Thank you bunches. I can't believe I've never installed adblock before. It is like a whole new Internet out there. The delicious tool is very addictive. I spent the morning organizing all my tags in the most anal way possible. |

Reputation: | I use noscript too, it's a blessing. The thing that annoyed me recently was a host of flash pop ups that started to appear, with noscript I can block the domain they are generated from (can't remember the name of it right now, but there's only one, something media) and get back to annoyance free browsing again. I also use a session manager, which is great for saving sessions and retrieving those sessions that crashed. I'm installing the dictionary now :0) |
