Brushing out the undercoat will probably help a lot.... I bought a Furminator to remove my dog's undercoat, and it pulls out an amazing amount of hair that would otherwise be on the floor. As an added bonus, she actually enjoys it.

lol, my towel is the one thing that annoys me too. Nothing is more disturbing than getting out of the shower fresh and clean and drying off only to be covered with little black hairs. but I wash the puppy's bedding and towels with mine so thats life. Unfortunately being a lab with a short thin coat a furminator won't help him much.

My cat like the Furminator better than a brush too. Maybe that's because I don't have to press as hard. She's still a hairy little purr-monster, though.
