Reputation: | Has anybody had any experience with relaxation or medition recordings and had any luck with them? I have tried pzizz, which is a program that will generate a 20-minute nap recording. It was a brilliant program, but I'll admit that I couldn't get to sleep every time. I've also used Paraliminals after a recommendation by Steve Pavlina. I'd say they are pretty effective. I usually am more relaxed after listening to one of the recordings, which usually are around 20 minutes. The effectiveness varies from time to time, but for the most part I've had good results. Does anyone have any recommendations? |

You lay on your back, close your eyes, and follow the voice of the Swami as he takes you through a guide of your body. He says stuff like: "Feel your right hand.... feel the back of your right hand, feel the palm of your hand.... feel your whole hand..." So on and so forth for your entire body. It lasts for an entire hour. Supposedly, once you master this meditation, one hour of this exercise is as good as 4 hours of sleep. I haven't seen that kind of dramatic changes in my life, but I always sleep much better after doing this exercise. It really helps me declutter my mind at the end of the day. If you're one of those people who have trouble sleeping at night due to all your stressful thoughts, this is for you. |

You can download relaxing MP3s of nature's sounds--birds, ocean waves, creeks, musical instruments--flutes, drums, and wind chimes to create a mix of relaxing sounds. Some artists are ideal to listen to when you want to relax or get to sleep. One of my favorites is Ryan Farish [MySpace.com - Ryan Farish - Los Angeles, California - Electronica / Ambient / Christian - www.myspace.com/ryanfarish, http://www.ryanfarish.com]. Many of his songs have been featured on The Weather Channel during the local forecast segments. |

Reputation: | I have a musical recommendation: Returning by Jennifer Berezan. It's beautiful, will encourage you to slow down and take deep breaths, and you will get lost in it. I like to listen to it while burning Nag Champa incense. Amazon.com: Returning: Music: Jennifer Berezan |

Reputation: | Several years ago, I was in a place in life where I had oppressive stress and a family crisis. I just wanted to be able to lift some of the stress off my. It was overwhelming. I researched a little and picked up: Guided Mindfulness Meditation (Guided Mindfulness) by Joh Kabat-Zinn. He also wrote a book called: Full Catastrophe Living from his experience running a Stress Clinic. I was pretty religious about practicing. At first it was a little bit difficult. After awhile I found I looked forward to it and the benefits were HUGE. If I had only a box of belongings I could take if I moved. This series would be in it. I also like Andrew Weil's which is a collaboration with Kabat-Zinn |

Reputation: | I have used the pizizz power nap one. It works really well if I need to get a decent nap since it really helps you wind down. I have a Homedics noise machine I use to help get to sleep. It has a bunch of different sounds on it like rain, river, birds. I also learned some of the yoga type relaxation things. Between the two I can usually fall asleep right away. |
