This is one of my favorite books!

An all time self improvement classic. The visualization techniques were based on Victor Frankl's survival techniques he developed while in a concentration camp during WWII.

Glad you mentioned it!

Seriously. Wow.

ok. say I have a Jug of milk.
If I believe this jug of milk will grant me wishes if I believe strongly enough then:

If my wish comes true, then the Jug of Milk worked! All praise the great Jug of Milk.

If my wish didn't come true, then "oh no", I wasn't wishing hard enough and had "negative vibes" destroying my chances. I should try again till it works. When it does work, then obvious the great Jug of Milk is what caused my wish to come true!

The Secret is bullshit. It can "work" by getting you to focus on a goal, but think it's taking credit where none is due (oh also, taking your money too.).

The Secret is all about positive thinking and positive action. If you put those two together, you will have a greater chance of reaching your goals.

Positive thinking and positive action to back up your thinking.....

That is also part of a larger psychological concept suggesting two personality characteristics present in humans that operate as a kind of "compass", guiding you basic approach in life.

You are either a "field dependent" or "field independent" person.

It easiest to give an example..

Two people are walking across a lawn toward the entrance to a building. They encounter a large paved sidewalk which has long walkway stretching east/west across the lawn, then turns north and leads directly to the entrance of the building.

A "field dependent" person will turn and follow the sidewalk route to the building, even when it is a longer walk.

A "field independent" person will naturally ignore the sidewalk and continue walkin across the yard to the building, because it is the shortest route.

Both versions are normal and each takes their approach naturally, without any "decisions" being made.

That will be a constant in their approach to most things throughout their lives. One is structure orientated, the other is not.

And interestingly enough...if there are trees on the side of the lawn, both will unconsciously "drift" toward them as they are walking. (it's an "ape" thing...)

Default Try it yourself before you judge.

There is no downside to the principles of the secret, as far as I have read into the book. I love anything that revitalize my hopes and dreams. I know I have abilities and I take initiative and action, and so thinking and believing combined with action have produced results that I seek.

I still think the real "secret" has something to do with those shoes Dorothy wore in the "The Wizard of OZ".

You can't just think your way to a better life. I have heard of numerous new age followings of people who think that quantum physics and the manipulation (or attempt thereof) of space time will yield results - this is bs. Very simple the harder you work and smarter (notice how I didn't say harder) the better off you'll be. I think it was Thomas Edison who said "I find that the harder I work the luckier I am" or something very similar. Whatever work you do, do it well and if you want to advance think about ways to start MAKING it happen. The come up with a plan and put it into effect, revise when necessary and then give it time. You WILL see results.

The secret is about positive thinking and once a person practice this then he/she will become successful in life.

I've heard that you should keep trying and keep trying and work hard but, what if you've tried like 5 things that haven't? Am I just stupid or what?
Sorry to rant but I get downtrodden sometimes.
