Default What's the BEST cooking blog?

For a single 26 y/o male who'd like to broaden/improve his culinary skills. Doesn't have to be like 5 posts a day, just consistent high quality easy to apply tips/recipes/food suggestions.

Thanks.

I get most of my tips/recipes from watching food network.... a lot. I then go to the website and print out recipes and try them (pretty much any recipe you see on the station is online...plus more).

A food blog I LOVE is smitten kitchen. Lots of mouthwatering photography that inspires you to cook. Every recipe I read on there I just want to try.

I haven't come across many food blogs focused on tips/techniques... hmm maybe that's an underserved market I should think about!

I love the food network. That + BNN(business news network) = 80 percent of what I watch on TV. Best part is, I get 2 versions of the food network so I'm twice as likely to find something that's interesting . Also Top Chef on Bravo's a fun show to watch.

Thanks for the blog link! I'll add it to my reader to see how I like it.

TBH I dunno why a food blog wouldn't have a "Tip of the Day" or a "Did you know that..." daily post with a small comment about a type of food or a trick or w/e. Kinda like those vocab calendars but for blogs and food mmmmmm. --- These are some of my favourite parts of the shows on TFN.

Probably my favorite site/blog is Chowhound.com they have a ton of content, blogs, article, forums and a recipe database.

Alton Brown is the man if your trying to learn how to do something. Good Eats covers some basics in depth and always has some odd tip you never knew. http://www.altonbrown.com/

Cooking for Engineers, I think I heard the guy that runs that site featured on NPR last year.

Another blog I really liked but seems to be down today is David Lebovitz. http://www.davidlebovitz.com/
He does mostly ice cream, sorbet and a few other food recipes. He is an expat living in Paris so he adds in little stories about food sources and culinary related things in Paris.

Probably my favorite TV chef right now is Ina Garten. She does some fairly straight forward classical things but you get the technique involved that can apply to lots of other things.

Right now the book I am dying to get is an original copy of Julia Child's French Cooking.

Hey, can they start a cooking section to the forums?

Ina is TOTALLY my favorite too! She does a really good job at explaining why she's doing things a certain way. I have one of her cook books and it's really nice... very beautiful photos as well as descriptions for the recipes.

Seriously, I dream about eating her food. Might not be the healthiest, but it's sinful to watch and dream about eating.
