gMail is simply the best e-mail service out there, if not simply for the Archive feature. I love not having to delete anything but still having an empty inbox. Time to make the switch! =) | |

Reputation: | I love Gmail. I've been using it since ages. (when you could only make a account if you get invitation to join from soneone) It was quite popular in the PC geek circles. (Im one of them.) I actually saw a man wearing a Tshirt saying, "Date me and Get Gmail Invite." back then. I dunno if that guy ever got a date though.

Reputation: | I use and I love it. I really like that you can do the instant messaging, too. I got my little sister to sign up for it (she's lives far away from me) and now we can IM each other while at work. I've got tons of invites left, if anyone is interested. |

Reputation: | Actually, gMail is open to everyone now. There's no need for an invite. In addition to having a great e-mail service when you sign up, you can use all the other great Google Applications, including Google Reader (the best rss reader), Google Calendar (the best calendar app), and Google Notebook (great "scrapbook" app), and Google Docs. |

Reputation: | I've been using gmail for about six months now. It's more reliable than my isp email service. It took a while to get used to though, but now I like it. My 9 year old has a gmail account too, and feels very grown up! I must check out the google rss option, I've not got into that yet. |

Reputation: | despite I have a couple of gmail accounts (for kind of professional use, they sound much better than yahoo, not to say hotmail...), I love yahoo interface. Much easier for me, and no limit for storage (although I guess I will not reach either gmail's limit) I know, I'm old-fashioned, but I like folders, I never get used to the way gmail works. |

Reputation: | I've just never really thought about getting a gmail account to be honest. My ISP gives me emails (though i struggle to get to their website from time to time, for some strange reson). I've had Hotmail for like... forever it seems like. I might get one because of what's been said on this thread, and the fact that I'm really unhappy with the way hotmail has become(I liked the old setup way more than now.) |

Reputation: | I've also been using Gmail for a while - during the public beta through invites - which I love. I have three other e-mails forward there, so all of my e-mail is in one spot, always. The ads are pretty minimal and aren't distracting. I find it to be reliable and useful. Also, you can now sync it to an e-mail program like Thunderbird, Eudora, Mac Mail, or Outlook Express via IMAP. Pretty snazzy if you ask me. |

Reputation: | I use a standalone email client since I've never quite felt comfortable using any type of webmail (though Gmail is the best one I've tried). At the moment I use Apple's Mail, which is quite OK but lacks some features I would like it to have. I haven't tried the new Mail that ships with Leopard, though. I have four or five different email accounts that I use with Mail. I used Pine under Unix for years, and am thinking of returning to it at some point. Pretty much the only problem with text-based email clients is that they cannot display attachments inline (but luckily I deal with very few attachments and am not fond of sending them out myself). I'd also like to try Mutt sometimes, as its been recommended to me several times. |

Reputation: | I have two email accounts: a Hotmail account that I use for signing up at online sweepstakes so all the marketing email goes there and a Gmail account I use for everything else. Gmail's conversation view is the best. I have no idea why other online email providers haven't done it yet. It especially helps a lot keeping discussion threads together in mailing lists. |
