Reputation: | I have a hotmail account that's about 10 years old, and I've had a Gmail account since the public invites first came out. I only got a Yahoo! account when Flickr made me get one, but that's really all I use that for. I like Gmail the best! I love how they added the new colour labels (I used to use a Firefox add-on to do this before Google made it a default feature) but I wish they allowed more colour choices. I love how easy and fast it is to find anything in my email with Gmail!

Reputation: | For several years I'd been using an account with Novell that they used to test out new versions of Netmail, but ever since they sold it to Messaging Architects actually getting my mail has been very spotty. So, I've been switching over to Gmail, especially with the new IMAP feature. Honestly, at this point I'm just happy about successfully getting my mail. So yay, Gmail. |

Reputation: | I got a gmail account a week ago, but have kinda been avoiding it. Reason I've avoided it, is because I registered for Google/reader a few months ago on an old email, so when I log on to gmail,it logs me off my googlereader. And I've got to log back on to google reader which's annoying. Anyone know the best way to transfer my subscription list from my old reader account to my gmail account? Thanks |

Reputation: | I've had a gmail account for 3 and a half years now (the oldest message I have saved is from June 04), and I absolutely love it. Conversation threads are my favorite feature by far, but I love the space and I love the fact that it's stored elsewhere - meaning that I can access it from anywhere. I think their IMAP feature still needs a bit of work, but I just backup my e-mail every so often to my computer, and then don't worry about it. I've survived a number of computer crashes and computer upgrades and never had to worry about porting or losing my e-mail. (And yes, I realize this is a feature of all webmail to some degree.) I really don't mind the text ads. After a while, you stop noticing them all together. Until they start recommending really ridiculous products!

| Senior Member | Gmail makes my eyes bleed. I have an acount for internet related things there, and the lack of folders annoys me. Also I cannot for the life of me find a way to delete one thing in a group if the subject is duplicated as it always groups the two together. Coupled with my known information about their privacy policy (or lack thereof) I will never use gmail for anything that has a password or other important info. Gmail Security:My husband had his Yahoo account hijacked last summer. After being on the phone with Yahoo for an hour they recovered it through gmail support because, surprise surprise, you don't really need much to get info from a gmail account. Someone claiming to be Yahoo tech support, a report of phishing though gmail and they cracked that account open and popped out the new info for my husband's account to set it right. The gmail tech happily told us they do that for any law enforcement or computer tech people from a large corporation such as Yahoo. So the next time Bob from the police department gets bored maybe he will accuse someone of phishing and dig through for some goodies in your account. I have had a Yahoo account for almost a decade now. My husband has had his longer. The new interface in e-mail sucks, but you do not have to use it, I certainly don't. My computer hates it and I have told them so after Beta testing it. As for ads, Firefox Ad-block doesn't let me see them. |

Reputation: | I was one of the original set of Gmail beta testers and have had an account since the beginning. I like it for the most part. It is easy to set up to check mail on my PDA. My major gripes are that the address book is a bit like chasing your tail around and the lack of folders. I do like their chat gizmo. I don't mind the advertising in the margins. You get to ignore it after a while. Other Gmail friends joke about what ads come up when we are having a discussion. We get some good laughs off of it. I have never used an ISP e-mail account. I prefer to be able to check my mail from anywhere and originally had a Geocities account that was converted to Yahoo a few years back. That is my junk address now.

Reputation: | Someone asked me this question this past weekend! My answer was that I'd signed up for gmail, yahoo mail, comcast mail (free with my ISP), this mail, that mail, heck I can't keep track of all the passwords/usernames! So to keep things simple, I stick w/ Yahoo since I've had it since college. |

Reputation: | My Yahoo Mail is now full of junk. I have Gmail but I only use it for forums and subscriptions. I mainly use my dotmac email account for personal use, just started last year. |
